PIPD Update - January 26, 2024

KUDOS

A patients family came by my office to tell me how exceptional our staff are. They stated that you guys go above and beyond to deliver the best care. So a HUGE KUDOs to everyone, it is so great to hear from families that your efforts do not go unnoticed :)

Staff who reported issues with Pantoloc monograph. Changes were able to be made quickly with your feedback.

From IPC - Staff looking after 2307 Jan 26 . Everything looked very clean and organized. (top of PPE cart clear, nursing table clear of extra stuff etc.)

MASTER SELECTION

The new master is going to be ready soon. If you haven't received an email from Fiona earlier this week, reach out. More info will be coming out once we have a confirmed Master.

Projected Selection Date is Feb 13th, activation date April 7th.

Spam emails - there appears to have been spam emails being sent out to people from 'Jonathan Melville' with many odd subject lines. Please do not open as these are not coming from me or my SHA email. I do not know how this had been happening and am working with SHA IT on this.

Weekly Update Jan 19

Resident Quiet Times

Gentle reminder that the residents are only to be called for emergent things during handover 1600-1730

Always ensure you are working with Resource or Charge prior to calling residents.

Two reasons: Keeps the leaders (Charge and resource) on the unit in the know, and ensures the calls to residents are necessary.

PIXIS

RESTOCK PATIENTS

·         Should never be used for controlled meds.

·         Why?

o   Legal documentation for controlled substances are not met when they are taken out this way, as opposed to the temp patient which I can then merge with the intended patient’s profile.

·         If staff do not to stop using them for controlled meds, pharmacy will need to remove the option to use a restock patient completely.

Hospital Acquired Infections

We have had a few respiratory HAIs in the last couple of weeks.

Ensure you are documenting visitors that are symptomatic so IPC doesn't attribute it to us.

Take note on if a service goes into rooms without appropriate PPE in the chart so we can start capturing these types of behaviors.

Keep up with your hand hygiene and PPE :)

Have a great weekend!
