SHA Formulary removal of docusate (and updating former health region order sets)

The SHA Drug and Therapeutics Committee (DTC) Formulary Alignment Project has found docusate to be ineffective for preventing and treating constipation, and has determined that it will not be added to the SHA Formulary. As such, docusate will require removal from former health region (fHR) order sets. 

October 24, 2024 - Pyxis Server Upgrade from current version to new version 1.7.3.

• Pyxis MedStations will be placed on critical override and still accessible.
• Orders, and Admission, Transfer, Discharge data will not be updated to MedStations for duration of downtime (up to 8hrs). Review upgrade frequently asked questions (FAQ)
• Global Find and Facility Search will not be available from October 21, 2024, until our MedStation is upgraded on October 24.

Things to know:

OVERRIDE SETTINGS: Everything will be on override during the night of scheduled upgrade times. Nurses will NOT need to wait for an order to be entered in BDM to remove a drug. When using override, a med-list will not populate until 5 characters are entered into the search field.

Order Entry: Once the move to the new server is complete on messages will slowly catch up. While having an order viewable on the profile increases the safety of medication administration, all drugs and all patients will be on override.

Go Live support: Pharmacy will be on site or on call during the scheduled times to assist with station upgrades.

Do not interrupt a station while upgrade is happening, as major failure can occur. Use nearby station or additional supplies provided for downtime.

• Stations will be inaccessible for approximately two hours using staggered time slots.

If you are having trouble locating any medications please call pharmacy.

Ed Days start at 0800 in room M117/119 main floor JPCH. 

Please bring your Heart & Stroke ID number with you as you will need it for CPR.

Peritoneal Dialysis - There is a new PD Resource binder in Unit 2! Please let us know if there is information you want that is missing from the binder.

Dinutuximab binder had been updated. A new nurses schedule has been created to reflect the 20hour infusion that will be starting Monday Oct 21. This information is also available on the S-Drive in the Dinutuximab folder.

Blinatumomab binder has been updated. A new Update Sheet has been added to the front of the binder for your most up to date Blina Information! This information is also available on the S-Drive in the Blinatumomab folder.

Seasonal Influenza vaccine administration - to be able to administer the seasonal influenza vaccine to our patients, you must complete the newest MyConnection module "Seasonal Influenza Certification 2024/2025" Seasonal Influenza Certification 2024/2025 (thinkific.com) and the newest annual Anaphylaxis MyConnection module Anaphylaxis - Identification and Initial Treatment 2024 (thinkific.com)

COVID vaccine administration - to be able to administer the COVID vaccine to our patients, you must complete all newest MyConnection module "COVID-19 Vaccines 2024/2025"   COVID-19 Vaccines 2024/2025 (thinkific.com)
