General Staff meeting - we're going to start the year with a staff meeting Wednesday Jan 22, 2025. Time TBD. Mark your calendars.
Washing machine - we finally have function washer and dryer once again.
New oncology practice - FYI a new patient specific chemo practice will be used Dec 30. The following is an outline of it. More info is now available printed in the charge nurse team room. And on this date CNEs will be in to support the staff who will first use it.
Green Curos Caps - just a reminder on the use of the green curos caps:
1. a NEW green curos cap is to be used each time. DO NOT REUSE caps.
1. Remove antiseptic cap. Allow to dry.
a. If no antiseptic cap present on needleless access adapter, scrub-the-hub, vigorously, with 70% isopropyl alcohol swab for a minimum of 15 seconds. Allow to dry.
2. Release clamp, if present.
3. Attach pre-filled NS syringe and aspirate slowly for blood return, until blood flashback appears in lumen.
Cleaning the needleless adapter after removing the curos cap increases a risk for contamination. If a new cap is used every time, the needleless adapter is being bathed in antiseptic. This also follows the Adult Clinical Procedure and the information from the vendor (see video below).
