3.      Annual eLearning has been posted. It is on the fSHR e-Learning site:

SHA Intra Net -> fSHR Info Net -> E-Learning (left hand side of page) -> E-Learning Site -> Nursing -> Acute Care Pediatrics

You may now start working on the eLearning. Please contact a CNE if you have questions.

Please note: CADD-Solis PCA Pump should be completed prior to the pump becoming active June 17, 2024.

The NEW Pediatric & Neonate CVAD (Central Venous Access Device) module is not currently live. A memo will go out when it is live – hoping for end of May.

4.       CADD-Solis PCA Pump – the CNEs now have 2 pumps for practice. We will have them available for hands on training starting next week.

5.       AirTap LC (currently in room 2309) – Hands on training will be May 27 & 28 from 1300-1600 both dates. It takes about 30 minutes to do a session. We will have a room set up with the Stryker Rep Andrea for all your learning needs. This is a great system and will really help support our complex mobility patients with repositioning, daily bath care, linen changes, and reducing pressure injuries. It also benefits you by significantly reducing your chance of back injury and strain! More information on the AirTap can be found in a bathroom and in the Q-cards-nursing folder. Sage AirTAP LC Training (youtube.com)

6.       PYXIS Update - The maintenance window will begin on Monday, May 27 at 23:55 hrs and is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, May 28 at 06:00 hrs. The expected outage from 23:55 to 03:00 hrs may be extended within the maintenance window. Users will be notified when the application is available and the flow of messages has been turned back on.

Pyxis will be available for users during the window but facility workarounds will be required, such as:

                                                   - Temporary patients will need to be added to the Pyxis med stations

                                                   - Patients transferred during the upgrade will not display the new location update in the Pyxis med stations

All delayed messaging will be released to Pyxis med stations once the change is complete.

3.       Anyone who did: Orientation, Obs, or Chemotherapy training since Nov 2023 – your Certification record for your skills is in the CNE Mailbox outside Jon’s office. This is your copy of the skills you completed and are certified for on PIPD (both RNs and LPNs). Please collect yours to keep for your own record of training.

4.      PCA Pump change – our current PCA pumps will no longer be used as of June 17, 2024. SHA will be using the CADD Pump as the PCA. There is a module on MyConnection -  CADD-Solis Pain Management SMART Pump Initial Certification. Please try to complete the module by June 17. It’s a CADD pump and it will be very user friendly.

Virtual training sessions are being provided and presented by ICU Medical (CADD-Solis™ vendor). These sessions are available to all SHA staff wanting to attend. It is encouraged that staff have a CADD-Solis™ pump in hand while completing this training, however these sessions do utilize a computer generated pump for those who do not have access. The Virtual Training Sessions are not mandatory.

Please contact the SMART Pump Program via email to receive a meeting link for a virtual session. SaskSmartPumpRegina@saskhealthauthority.ca

NOTE: Attending a virtual training session does NOT mean you are certified with the CADD-Solis™ SMART Pump. MyConnection initial certification training must be completed by all staff prior to programming, monitoring or setting up the CADD-Solis™ pump for patient use.

PIPD Update May 3, 2024

 Charge Nurses

We have updated Carolyn's Flow Worksheet and would like all CNs to start using this if you aren't already. Regardless of who is completing these, we want to keep all of them, so please leave in the Unit 3 team room when you're done your shift. In addition to functioning as a worksheet we are needing to also use it as a data collection tool for information that is surprisingly hard to track.

Copies of the form are in the CN binder. Thanks for your help with this!

New province-wide Poison Centre Documentation form enhances patient care

Pharmacy Services is excited to announce the launch of a new province-wide Poison Centre Documentation form (SHA-0411), aimed at optimizing patient care for individuals presenting with toxic exposures across our health-care facilities. This innovative form, developed in collaboration with Poison and Drug Information Service (PADIS), is designed to capture the initial care plan devised by our interdisciplinary teams.

It is important to note that while this document becomes part of the patient's permanent medical record, it is not a patient care order form. Instead, it acts as a comprehensive record of the care plan developed in consultation with PADIS Poison Information Centre.

Review pay accuracy

Prior to our transition to AIMS (Administration Information Management System), we are requesting that all SHA employees review their pay statements and validate accuracy. If there are any errors identified, please work with your manager to submit corrections on or before May 31, 2024.

CNE Updates

1.  COVID Screening Form – big change! It looks completely different as of May 1st. The COVID screening form has been replaced with a “symptom screening form” and will guide you on many types of symptoms and which precautions you should put them on (DC, DC+, Contact, etc). There is no more medical directive – this means if a patient screens positive for respiratory illness, you need a physician order to send for COVID now.

2.  ARO Screening (for MRSA, etc) – also big change! It too is a very different looking form as of May 1st. This is still a medical directive meaning you do not need a physician order to send an ARO swab if the patient screens positive.
