Educator Updates

Congrats to our new Chemo trained staff – we have some lovely individuals who are now certified.

Great news – the green toothettes are back in all the patient kanbans!!

Reminder, the green toothette is SINGLE USE. Dispose of the toothette after each use.

A toothette does NOT replace the toothbrush for any patient with teeth. Please use the soft toothbrushes and toothpaste (use a rice sized amount for children aged 3 years or less; and a pea sized amount for those over 3 years of age – adulthood). These are located in the clean supply room. If the patient is at risk of aspiration and has teeth, please use the suction toothbrushes with mouthcare solution located in Walmart.

2024 Cyber Security Training

Once again, eHealth Saskatchewan has partnered with Terranova Security, a global leader in cybersecurity awareness, to deliver the mandatory training. This year’s training is focused on home-based risks and password education. The training takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.

Cybersecurity training is mandatory for all SHA employees with network access and SHA email accounts. The training must be completed by September 30, 2024.

You will receive an email from noreply@terranovasite.com on April 24, 2024, with the link to the complete the training.

When you open the email, you will be provided a link to ‘Log In Now’ . You will be presented with the eHealth Single Sign-on screen, where you will use your domain, network username and current password to access the training.

  • The link in the email is user specific and cannot be copied or shared.
  • The content can be reviewed, and the quiz redone as many times as needed and progress is saved if you are not able to complete at one time.
  • A certificate will be issued upon completion with a minimum 90% evaluation score.

More information can be found on the SHA Intranet. Questions about the training can be directed to Digital Health – SHADigitalHealth@saskhealthauthority.ca.

You are all wonderful. Great work this week.

Patients’ access to their information while receiving care

Did you know that patients can request to review or receive copies of their personal health information while receiving care? During an episode of care, clinicians can facilitate these requests as per the following clinical documentation and communication standard:

Revised Routine Practices

Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) has updated the routine practices document to include information on engineering controls, administrative controls, and aseptic procedures, which are important components that should be adopted for all patient/resident/client interactions.

Other updates include:

  • Clarifying direction for single use, single patient use, and reusable items
  • Patient transport section was updated to include a link to the PPE during patient transport work standard
  • Appendix 1 (types of gloves) was reformatted and includes indications for sterile vs non-sterile glove use
  • All broken hyperlinks have been fixed.

LifeSpeak: Creating space for self-care

It’s easy to become overwhelmed with stress and put our own needs on the backburner. But what if making time for self-care was possible amid the chaos?

Self-care goes beyond relaxing bubble baths and treating ourselves to fancy coffee. This week, LifeSpeak experts explain how focusing on our mental health, practicing mindfulness, connecting with friends, and nurturing our relationship with ourselves can prevent burnout and allow us to better care for our loved ones.

Wheel chair scale - the scale just outside of Walmart is has been upgraded to a new scale. So if there has been any issues with it in the past, these are no longer relevant.
