Kudos
You are all wonderful. Great work this week.
Patients’ access to their information while receiving care
Did
you know that patients can request to review or receive copies of their
personal health information while receiving care? During an episode of care,
clinicians can facilitate these requests as per the following clinical
documentation and communication standard:
Revised
Routine Practices
Infection
Prevention and Control (IPAC) has updated the routine
practices document to include information on engineering controls,
administrative controls, and aseptic procedures, which are important components
that should be adopted for all patient/resident/client interactions.
Other
updates include:
- Clarifying direction for single
use, single patient use, and reusable items
- Patient transport section was
updated to include a link to the PPE during patient transport work
standard
- Appendix 1 (types of gloves)
was reformatted and includes indications for sterile vs non-sterile glove
use
- All broken hyperlinks have been
fixed.
1. Nystatin
cream – is currently on back order. Remaining stock is allocated to NICU.
Pharmacy will sub all PIPD nystatin orders to clotrimazole.
2. Pyxis
changes starting April 23 – High Alert & Controlled medications will
now prompt you to scan the medication after opening Pyxis or the fridge. Use
the QR barcode on the oral syringes, the manufacturer barcode on the amp/vial,
& the long linear barcode on the packages for tab/cap.
3. NEW
Information binders for staff – there are now NEW binders for Blina, Dinu,
& CADD Pump. These are the Ward Copy binders and will live in the cupboard
in the Unit 3 Team Room unless in use for a patient. There is also an APHON
Ward Copy textbook as well.
