LifeSpeak: Creating space for self-care

It’s easy to become overwhelmed with stress and put our own needs on the backburner. But what if making time for self-care was possible amid the chaos?

Self-care goes beyond relaxing bubble baths and treating ourselves to fancy coffee. This week, LifeSpeak experts explain how focusing on our mental health, practicing mindfulness, connecting with friends, and nurturing our relationship with ourselves can prevent burnout and allow us to better care for our loved ones.

·     How can social connections benefit the brain?

·     Self-care, Nutrition and Caregiving: A Personal Story

·     Taking care of your mental health, one day at a time

·     How can we overcome emotional eating or feelings of guilt towards food?

·     Mindfulness for parents (with guided self-compassion practice)

·     Making time for self-care when supporting a loved one with dementia

·     Become Your Own Best Ally with a Self-Compassion Practice

·     Nine-min Guided Meditation: Connecting With the Environment Around You – Five Senses Practice

Ask the Expert: April 24 at 12 p.m. ET – Navigating Family Finances

Visit SHA’s Wellbeing and Resilience website for more information and resources to support our wellbeing.

Equipment update
Vein finder - new vein finder is located in the treatment room. It includes a detachable handheld device that can be used on the stand or separately. Attached are instructions. Reports from our crew that also work in Day Med is that it is a useful device.

Wheel chair scale - the scale just outside of Walmart is has been upgraded to a new scale. So if there has been any issues with it in the past, these are no longer relevant.

Kudos

The team has done amazing work with an over-filled unit once again. Kudos to all of you on this past week. We appreciate you.

Nina for always going above and beyond.
