Hi everyone!
Here’s your weekly roundup of updates, reminders, and a few things to keep on your radar as we head into the week ahead. Thanks, as always, for your flexibility, teamwork, and everything you do for our patients and each other.
🩺 CRNS 2027 Licence Renewal
The 2027 CRNS licence renewal opens October 1 and closes November 30, 2026 at midnight.
A few things to check off before renewal opens:
Make sure you can access your CRNS Portal and the email linked to your profile.
Review and update your Continuing Competence Program (CCP) learning plan.
Have your eligible nursing practice hours ready for December 1, 2025 to November 30, 2026.
Activate your MyCNPS account if you haven't already.
What's new this year?
Professional Liability Protection registration and payment will now be completed directly through CNPS using the MyCNPS portal.
That means renewal will involve two separate transactions—one with CRNS and one with CNPS—so don't forget to keep both receipts.
📋 Pediatric Lines Available
We currently have several pediatric lines available, including permanent part-time positions, along with other permanent and temporary opportunities.
If you don't currently have a line, reach out to Sharon or Kelly. This is a unique opportunity, and we're happy to help you find a position that works for you.
Regular practice on the unit helps build consistency, confidence, and experience in our complex pediatric environment.
Next rotation begins: October 18
Rotations repeat every four weeks.
New staff start dates can be adjusted to align with orientation completion.

🧡 September 30: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to honour the victims and survivors of the residential school system and reflect on the ongoing journey of Truth and Reconciliation.
SHA encourages staff to wear orange on September 30, as well as on the last Friday of every month, as a visible sign of this commitment.

It Starts with Me
Truth and Reconciliation is a shared commitment, but meaningful change also begins with each of us.
Inspired by the First Nations Health Authority's #ItStartsWithMe initiative, SHA's It Starts with Me campaign gives employees and physicians an opportunity to take a step toward advancing their personal commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.
As of the September 22 SHA Rounds, more than 300 SHA employees and practitioners had taken the pledge.

🏥 Coming to RUH: 3D Campus Mapping
Starting Monday, September 28, a project will begin to capture 3D information from rooms across the seven buildings that make up the RUH campus.
Using LIDAR technology, the team will capture room dimensions and infrastructure information. A built-in privacy feature automatically removes images of people, and the project has been reviewed and approved by the SHA Privacy Department.
The team will be moving through the campus and spending only a few seconds in each room.
So if you spot someone walking around with what looks like futuristic surveying equipment... now you'll know why. 🙂
🩸 Practice Update: TSIN Implementation
The Transfusion Service Identification Number (TSIN) has now been implemented in former Saskatoon Health Region facilities.
Updated Transfusion Medicine forms are available, along with supporting resources including:

Quick reminder when restocking forms
Please make sure you're replacing forms with the most current versions. Keeping up-to-date documentation available helps reduce extra work and prevent errors.
🧺 White Mesh Linen Bags
You'll now notice that patient gowns, IV gowns, and bariatric gowns are arriving in the white mesh bags as well.
A quick refresher:
Empty mesh bags go into the blue hamper/soiled linen carts so they can be washed and reused.
Please don't return empty mesh bags—or bags that have been in a patient room—to the clean linen carts.
🦠 IPAC Corner: JoAnn's Cameo
JoAnn, our Infection Control Nurse, is joining future blogs with a fun little IPAC cameo—because everyone needs at least one favourite infection-control fact. 😉
Did you know?
Hand hygiene is the MOST effective way to prevent the spread of infections.
Healthcare workers are powerful advocates for hand hygiene with patients and families. A few simple ways to model it:
Perform hand hygiene where patients can see you.
Talk about hand hygiene while you're cleaning your hands.
Point out hand sanitizer stations, soap dispensers, and "how-to" posters.
Let someone know if you notice an empty dispenser.
