PIPD Update March 20, 2026

Indigenous Employee Network

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is proud to support the launch of the Indigenous Employee Network –an Indigenous-led employee network created to foster connection, community, and culturally safe support for Indigenous staff across our organization.

Employee networks are widely recognized as an effective way to strengthen recruitment, retention, mentorship, and leadership opportunities. The Indigenous Employee Network is one of the ways SHA is advancing its commitments to Truth and Reconciliation, Indigenous workforce retention, and a more inclusive workplace that reflects the communities we serve.

Join us at our launch on April 1 from 12 - 1 p.m. Additional details are available in the poster below. Register here.

Introduction to Cultural Responsiveness - feedback survey

Thank you for completing the required Introduction to Cultural Responsiveness training. We welcome your feedback on how the training helped increase your knowledge and understanding of cultural responsiveness.

Following completion of the survey, you can enter to win an Indigenous inspired scrub hat and release lanyard by Métis Artist Marlyn Black along with an SHA Every Child Matters shirt and a $30 Tim Hortons giftcard.

Introduction to Cultural Responsiveness training provides an historical overview of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Topics include the impact of the Treaties; the meaning of the term “Indigenous”; the difference between “status” and “non-status”; diverse and distinct approaches, views, and ways of living; and more.

Emails. We still have several staff that have a usask email listed as their contact. This is no longer an option. Please send your new contact information to Twila, Sharon and Kelly. Thank you!

Postings – take a peak, there are a few out there right now!!

Illness – while we are not on outbreak precautions but we have had seen a few Noro illnesses on the unit as well as an increase in Respiratory illness. Please ensure you are not coming to work if you are ill. It puts pt’s and staff at risk and we want you to be healthy coming to work.

* If anyone notices GI symptoms over the next week, please report to Kelly/Sharon as we are going to keep an eye on this for a bit.. Housekeeping is bumping up their cleaning protocol and we ask that everyone share the effort in wiping down all surfaces regularly.

We have closed the playroom for the weekend just to be safe.

PPE carts – a reminder to please keep these carts in pt rooms unless pt is on airborne/droplet plus precautions.

*Note: we are changing the set up of the PPE carts. Due to IPAC recommendations, we are clearing off the tops of the PPE carts. They will hopefully all be switched over this weekend. Note: Drawer 2 could be yellow or purple gown depending on the need.

Thanks to everyone for working through a challenging week! We appreciate all of you!!
