CNE Update
Feeding pumps - our new feeding pumps seem to have been set to quiet mode.
How to turn the volume up: select "More Options" 🠊 "Adjust Audio Volume" & increase audio volume as needed.
IVF from Pharmacy or ward? - NEW to the Red Medication Binder is the list on which IVF is prepared by Pharmacy or is ward stock. This is also hanging on the IVF cart and in the S-Drive q-card folder.
Pharmacy's process is to process, create and deliver our special IVF orders. Best practice is to have Pharmacy manipulate any potassium containing IVF.
SMOF Lipid filter - these are now stocked in Pyxis. You must select your patient, then select "override" then search "filte". Please only take 1 out at a time or the count will not be accurate and will not be restocked properly.
NEW Q-cards
Picture Communication - this document is already used by OT for patients who are having difficulty verbalizing. It works to start simple (the yes/no sign) then move to more in-depth pictures if the yes/no is going well. FUN FACT - page 13 has a Faces Pain Scale.
We are working on how to make this more accessible and easier to use for you and our patients. Ideas welcome!
Sending a Patient on Pass - this outlines how to ensure your patient is ready to go on pass including how to get pass meds and what to do when the patient has returned. Found in the unit's recipe box and on the S-Drive.
Attention Oncology Nurses:
Calaspargase - may be seen in replacement to pegaspargase. It is to be treated just like pegaspargase for monitoring and administering 10% over the 1st hour and 90% over the 2nd hour. A request has been made to the Smart Pump Committee to ensure the pump library has that capability and for a monograph to be created.
Learning Opportunity:
Out Saskatoon will be providing education
regarding how to provide gender affirming care to all patients, on May 12 and
26 at RUH. These sessions are open to all staff and
physicians that would like to learn concrete ways to provide safe and
affirming space for 2SLGBTQ+ and everyone! More information is in the attached
poster below:
