Thank you to everyone who continues to support the ward by picking up extra shifts and giving their best each day. We recognize that the workload has been heavy and that working short-staffed is challenging. Your dedication, flexibility, and commitment to providing excellent care for our patients does not go unnoticed. We sincerely appreciate the hard work, professionalism, and teamwork you bring to every shift.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank Gloria as she retires from her Unit Assistant position. We are grateful for her contributions to our team and wish her all the best in this next chapter in Edmonton!
At the same time, we are excited to welcome several new team members. Please join us in welcoming Dilu, Mariyam, who have recently started and Mabelle, who is joining us as this week. Hannah has also recently started as a CCA on our ward. We are pleased to have them join the team and look forward to working with them.
Schedule Update
We are hopeful that we will have news regarding the master schedule this week. Thank you for your patience as this work continues—we will share updates as soon as they become available.
Related to this, members of the May orientation group are expected to begin working in their lines in early July, which will provide some additional stability to the schedule.
E-Learning Reminder
There is a new AI e-learning module available in My Connection that all staff are asked to complete. We recognize there has been a significant amount of required learning recently and appreciate the time and effort everyone is putting into staying current with these requirements.

Cheers for Peers
A special shout-out to Tory for her outstanding work coordinating and preparing for the transfer to Philadelphia. These complex transfers require a tremendous amount of planning, organization, and attention to detail, and Tory's efforts helped ensure everything was in place for a smooth transition. Thank you for your dedication and hard work.
Thank you as well to everyone who has been helping to keep the small staff room clean and tidy. It may seem like a small thing, but having a welcoming and organized space makes a difference for all of us during busy shifts.
A special thank you to Sharon for taking the initiative to create a shared cleaning schedule with PICU and Housekeeping to help maintain the larger staff room. We appreciate the collaboration and planning that went into this effort. Thank you also to Sharon for volunteering to take the first shift and lead by example.
And some fun from the social committee coming up!
June is Stroke Month
Why Being FAST Matters in Saskatchewan!
- An estimated 3,200 people have a stroke each year in Saskatchewan.
- Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in Saskatchewan and across the country.
- 1.9 million brain cells die every minute during a stroke.
- Immediate action and timely treatment can save lives and reduce disability.
The faster the treatment, the higher the chance of a full recovery.
The Provincial Neurodiversity Advocacy Partnership (PNAP) is
looking for volunteers who are pediatric SHA healthcare workers to better
understand neurodiversity-affirming healthcare practices.
