Thanks for another great week, everyone. We have two new
Unit Support Workers who have started with us, so please help us welcome Sherry
and Lorene to the ward!
A little lost and found…
We are currently missing our Unit 2 glucometer. It
should be marked JPCH Unit 2 on the side, so please keep your eyes open
for it.
We are also missing two CPR stools.
On a more positive equipment note, our new vein finder
should be arriving soon! We’ll keep you posted once it’s here and ready to
use. Update to the lift – both lifts now
use the same type of sling so can be used interchangeable. Voila.
Reminder:
A quick reminder about assignments for transplant patients. Regardless of how long ago a transplant
occurred, transplant patients must only be assigned to chemo trained nurse.
This certification is required at every stage of care on our unit.
We know assignments involve a lot of moving parts, and
occasionally something may get missed. Charge Nurses need your help to catch
these errors. If you notice that you have been assigned a transplant patient by
accident please let the CN know right away so the assignment can be changed. Thanks for helping us stay on top of this.
If you are floated for your shift – check in with charge to double
check your points are updated.

Book Club – September 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Prairie Sun
And just a reminder that this is really more about getting
together than actually discussing the book. So even if you didn’t finish YESTERYEAR
(or didn’t start it!), come out for some fun.

A Memo That May or May Not Apply to You…
Starting August 31, 2026, Nursing Consultative
Services will have access to electronically document the Nursing
Consultation Progress Note in Sunrise Clinical Manager.
This will provide nursing consultative staff with a
standardized way to document assessments, interventions, education, follow-up
and ongoing support. It will also help ensure consultation activities and
patient care are clearly documented and integrated into the overall care plan.
Clinical units and members of the health care team can
access the Nursing Consultation Progress Note through the Documents Tab
or the Visit Record Review Tab.
So… this may be very relevant to you, or it may be one of
those memos that you read and file away for later!
