Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas
2023 is wrapping up a lot better that it started. The main reason is thanks to the cooperation and team work on the unit.
We continue to be very grateful for working with such an amazing team. Thank you and enjoy your time with friends and family whenever that ends up occurring.
Staffing Scheduling Improvements - from staff scheduling office
Shortening Shifts/Partial Bids
· The upgraded Staff Scheduling website now allows
for partial bids for shifts within Today/Tomorrow (0-48 hours of the start of
shift). As this is a new feature that now exists, the short call team
will be eliminating the process of shortening shifts for all departments effective
Monday, December 25, 2023. All shifts
will stay up for all employees to bid on the shift until the shift reaches 4
hours remaining of the shift.
Flipping back and forth to OCC Types
· The short call staff
will put out all shifts within today/tomorrow once at Regular and then flip to
OT. In the event that you require the shift to be changed to another
Occupation type, managers will need to call these instructions into Quick
Dial. The short call team will change one Occupation type per
shift. For example: LPN sick call comes in, we will post at REG
time, then we will post to OT. At that point if you wish to flip to an RN
we will do the same process, post once at REG and once at OT. At that
time the shift will stay at the RN OCC type at OT status. If you have
already identified this in your GL no need to call into Quick Dial. This
change will take effect Monday, December 25, 2023.
Until Filled Status
· We are currently working on a process to have
all shifts within today move to an until filled status which will assist in the
“reposting” of shifts. Currently you may see a shift out for bid and then
it comes down after the 15 minutes for the scheduler to action, this can take a
bit of time for the action to occur and the shift will go back out to accept
bidders (there is only one notification set to the employees per shift).
The process we are exploring will eliminate the need to “repost” the shift
every 15 minutes and allow the shift to accept bids until the shift is removed.
More to come on this in the new year
Scheduled Vacation Payouts – Quick Dial Only
· These requests are now to go through the Quick Dial
Option, the employee leaves a message and the senior scheduler will process
form there. There has been an increase of payroll payouts coming into My
Connection which are being denied as these NEED to be processed through Quick
Dial at this time.
Scheduling Inquiry – My Connection
· Employees are encouraged to continue to use the
Quick Dial function to report their defect. Employees are also encouraged
to discuss any discrepancies with their managers prior to submitting a
scheduling inquiry case. We are experiencing a lot of cases coming in
that require an initial discussion with the Quick Dial team, manager or senior
scheduler.
MASTER UPDATE
We are having a meeting with the union in the new year to continue to advocate for master that is in alignment with CBA and your interests. It is likely that we will not get to picking the lines until February. If you have holidays booked for February please plan for someone to be your designate for picking for you. Updated seniority lists will be emailed out in the new year.
CHG Wipes (burgundy package) WILL NOT be stocked in the warmers. If they are in the warmer, the package must be thrown out after 96 hours. All units will have 2 rows of the Essential bath wipes, 1 row of Shield wipes, 1 row of shampoo caps. There will be CHG wipes will be at each unit underneath the warmers. You can microwave the wipes to provide a warm CHG Pre-Op bath.
Please do not put the shampoo caps into the blanket warmers. This is not regulated for temperature for the shampoo caps. Please use the Stryker warmers at each unit instead.
CNES would like to say Thank you – we see the care you give. You are all shining stars.
Asthma Teaching - just a reminder that if a patient needs asthma
education to contact the Inpatient Peds RT (Vocera). Don't submit an SCM req for this as this goes to the wrong department and it will get missed.
