First up, a few reminders:
- The glucometer QC checks on nights. Everyone has had it happen when they need to do a stat chem strip and the glucometer is overdue for a QC check. Not ideal!
- Filling out your fluid balance sheets and totaling them before the end of your shift. If a patient has IV fluids/TPN running continuously for your shift, the fluid balance must demonstrate that. If it is not charted, it must be assumed it is not done!
- If you are having trouble getting for you breaks during your shift, it is your responsibility to reach out for help. We have a supernumerary charge and resource nurse. They are there to assist with things so people can get their work done as well as take breaks. You need to communicate issues and so they have the chance help rather than just missing your breaks and putting for OT for that. There are times when this cannot be avoided but those are situations where everyone knows there are issues and are working together to resolve them.
Thursday April 10th was Indigenous Nurses Day. We
want to acknowledge, honour and celebrate the contributions made by Indigenous
nurses to our health care system. Your work not only heals but uplifts
communities, preserves traditions, and paves the way for a healthier future.
There is an IPAC measles toolkit on infonet and it has been
