📱 Accrual Balances – Easier Access

We’ve introduced an update to make accessing accrual balances more convenient.

What’s new:

  • As of Thursday, March 26, accrual balances no longer require connection to the SHA network
  • Access is now available 24/7, including on mobile devices

How to access:

  • MyConnection → MyWork → Me → My Accrual Balances
  • Step-by-step guide: KB0014847

Helpful reminders:

  • Weekly updates: End of day Wednesday (reflects time taken)
  • Monthly updates: After payroll processes the final day of the month

👨‍👩‍👧 Essential Family/Support Persons vs Visitors

Essential Family/Support Persons:

  • Participate in decision-making with the patient/resident
  • Are part of the care team
  • Support quality of life and care needs

Visitors:

  • Do not participate in caregiving or decision-making
  • Provide social visits only



🏥 ICRA Rollout

  • Launch date: April 16
  • Please complete your eLearning on MyConnection

🚧 College Drive Construction – Phase I

Stage I (Clarence Ave to University Drive):

  • Full closure of University Bridge and College Drive
  • Access limited to emergency services
  • Hospital access maintained from the east (westbound College Drive)

Timeline:

  • Stage 1A: Begins week of April 6 (~3 weeks)
  • Stage 1B: Immediately after, continuing until end of June (total 8–10 week bridge closure)

🚍 Inter-Hospital Shuttle

Please note there will be no changes to inter-hospital shuttle services during the College Drive Construction Project.

Code Navy Take-away Learning - Refractory Anaphylaxis


NEW Ammonia - blood sampling Memo from Laboratory Medicine

NOTE: This only applies to sites that currently send Ammonia testing to Saskatoon
The Biochemistry Laboratories in Saskatoon will be changing the methodology for Ammonia effective March 31, 2026.
The changes in ordering, specimen preparation, and result reporting are summarized below:
Ordering
• New test code for Ammonia: AMON
• The current test codes for Ammonia will be discontinued.
• Specimen type will change
Specimens
Specimen type: EDTA plasma, collected on ice, in a prechilled tube
Reporting
• Unit: umol/L
• Reportable range: 10-1000 umol/L

We have printed, laminated and put out the Collection Chart that lives in the med room. The memo has also been posted in all the units. 

It has also been confirmed by Lab that it is safe to send via Tube system.

ARO Screening - must be done on all patients. Since PIPD is a "High Risk Unit", all patients must be swabbed.

IV Monograph Updates - 1600s & telling a CNE make a difference
isoniazid - Pediatric information added to intermittent infusion, IM infusion, and dose information.
