CHANGE to TPN bags:
**Pyxis Discrepancies For best practice, discrepancies should be resolved at the end of every shift. These records must be accurate to align with Health Canada legal requirements. If these cannot get figured out Pharmacy will need to escalate to the next level, reporting these to Health Canada. Solution: effective Sunday June 7th we are going to implement an end of qshift checklist for each Pyxis Unit to ensure all discrepancies for the shift have been resolved. This will remove the potential for names going to Health Canada and we do hope that this will help reduce the outstanding discrepancies. We will reevaluate this process in the fall with the hopes to discontinue.
Calling
Residents Algorithm-
we have placed the Visual flowchart for Calling Residents in each unit as well
as on the CNE board for everyone to have access to. All staff are encouraged to
review before making calls to residents.
Who’s on our ward: Please keep your eyes out for anyone that does not look like they belong on the unit and call protective services if in doubt. Our main doors continue to be staying open for a prolonged period of time. This issue is being reviewed by a new team on Tuesday again.
Flex – what do we need to make flex a better
equipped unit? Some things are out of our control of course but we would like
to hear your ideas for better flow and efficiency as we move to using that
space more regularly. Please send Kelly or Sharon an email or see the sheet on
the huddle board (posted Monday).
Shuttle changes: The staff shuttle pick-up/drop-off location at RUH will be temporarily changing effective Friday June 5, 2026.
The shuttle
will now be stopping on the SCC driveway just north of its previous stop,

You may see a new intermittent/self-cath catheter device called the VaPro Plus. This is a special-order product currently but we have 1 patient using it. This device greatly decreases the risk of bacterial transfer/introduction to the urethra and bladder. A Works Standard (WS) has been created and added to the S-Drive q-cards folder - "Vapro catheter WS".
