 Expression of Interest

Expression of interest requests have been received and processed!

Postings are also now all up – take a look!

NG Teaching Updates

Just a reminder there have been some changes to the NG teaching documents.

There is now a provincial PIER (patient information and education resource) document we will use instead of the single page document.

Krista will provide the PIER document and a list of supplies to families in a green duotang, along with a prescription and bag of supplies, when she does the initial teach.

But should you need it, it is located on the S-drive under NG, there is also a link on the updated checklist.

When using the new Nickey doll for NG teaching the manufacturer recommends an 8fr NG and the use of water-based lubricant.

NP's

They have been added to switch board, but staff need to ask for them by first and last name not "peds surgery NP" or "Peds ortho NP."

  • Since May, Shasta has been mentoring with ortho, and Jan has been with peds gen surg.
  • On August 10, they are switching.
  • Jen will be mentoring with pediatric orthopedics, and Shasta will be returning to pediatric general surgery.
  • Jen away from July 15–August 10. There will be no general surgery NP coverage during that time, so while I am away nursing will have to call the patients primary general surgeon during the day and on call gen surgery resident after hours.

☀️ SUNSHINE FUND!

Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation (JPCHF) is accepting grant requests until August 15.

JPCHF promotes excellence in maternal and pediatric health care across Saskatchewan, disbursing $4.5M in funding last year.

JPCHF grants patient care requests that show potential for enhancing care based on scientific excellence and relevance to children's and maternal health.

We encourage you to review our Granting Guidelines for more information.

Anyone can apply just let Kelly or Sharon know if you do so we don’t duplicate the ask :)

 Child Protection Procedure

This is a reminder that the Child Protection: Reporting Duties and Support Procedure (SHA-07-003P5) was released on June 1, 2026, and is now available on E-Learn.

For those that cannot access E-Learn, you can find the procedure and video here:

This procedure applies to all team members and outlines our legal duty to recognize and report suspected child abuse or neglect involving individuals under 18, as well as documentation and privacy expectation.
