 Weekly Update June 2, 2023

Sending Faxes- When you are faxing to a 655 #, you only need to add the last 4 digits- I.E our PIPD fax # 6475 (9-306-655-6475).  Anytime you are adding 306 it has to be 9-306, if you are sending fax long distance it has to be 9-1-306.  If the numbers aren’t done properly, I.E same as our unit phones they will come back failed.  Please make sure before you are sending.  IT has suggested unplugging machine for 1-2 minutes to re-boot or call them so they can deal with it in the moment- please do so! If they’re still not working please let us know, and save your fax failed copies.  Thanks

IVIG has an updated order set for pediatrics: CS-OS-1911 PEDIATRIC 10% Intravenous Immune Globulin (IVIG) Order Set (saskhealthauthority.ca).

This will be live starting June 1 and is found on Forms on Demand. Any patient receiving IVIG must have this order set filled out by the physician.

PORT ACCESS CONCERN: Day medicine had an issue with a micro-gripper port needle malfunction. If this happens to you – please save the malfunctioned port needle AND the package it came in (place the needle device into an orange top container) for the CNE. Preferably fill out this form as much as you are able: https://www.saskhealthauthority.ca/system/files/2022-10/Form-SupplyChain-ProductIssue.pdf or leave us a very detailed note so we can fill it out.

Nurses – it is your responsibility to REMOVE ALL IV tubing, bags, blood products, chemotherapy from the patient’s IV pole and pumps! If your patient is discharged – you MUST remove and properly dispose of those items! This is not the scope or role of the support staff.

Chemo Course – June 20 & 21: For those of you taking this course, an email with more details will be coming out next Monday. LEARNING PACKAGES are available in the Charge Nurse Room – the package has a sticky note with your name on it. It is available for pick up as of May 31.

BFI Pre-Assessment June 27: A BFI minded lady will be coming for a walk through to see our space and maybe ask staff some questions. Big things to remember:

    1. Breastfeeding is welcome anytime, anywhere!
    2. A breastfeeding parent asks for a private area to pump/breastfeed – main floor by the JPCH Foundation office
    3. WE SUPPORT THE FAMILY NO MATTER HOW THEY CHOOSE TO FEED!
    4. Look for the fun poster with pink information sheets at every unit you can review starting June 2. These documents have been included in this email. It is also in the BFI folder on the S-drive.
    5. LASTLY – there is a Feeding POLICY now! It is something you may get asked about where to find it: It is on the S-Drive – BFI folder. It is called “JPCH BFI Guidelines 2023 (POLICY)”. Don’t let the “guidelines” title fool you – it is still a POLICY. It is our pledge to support families.

Super Mario Week next week: please see attachment

Magic Mouthwash has been discontinued. Once the current supply is used up, the physicians will need to order a different option. See the attached PDF memo.

Maternity Leave – if anyone has questions about maternity/paternity leave, there is a bunch of info in MyConnection. Simply search ‘Maternity Leave’ in MyConnection for a list of resources. The document titled 'HRBP Maternity/Parental Leave' has a lot of helpful information. Some documents are attached.
