PIPD Update Dec 19, 2025

CNE Update

Education Completed Fall 2025:
    Ed Days (October 8 - November 23) - 143 staff
Peritoneal Dialysis Course - 28 staff
    Chemo Course - 5 staff
    Obs Course - 7 staff

What's next? Orientation starts January!

Charge Nurses - please look at the newest Chemo and Obs trained staff when making assignments (picture with names on whiteboard in Charge Room). We have lovely new, fresh faces to get comfortable in their expanded Scopes of Practice! 😊

Anyone who attended PD, Chemo or Obs Courses - please collect your certification record from the envelope in the CNE mailbox by the Managers' offices. Each course has been sorted into the date you attended.

Can you use a patient's Dexcom (aka a CGM)?

If a patient is in an acute illness, it is not an accurate reading - see picture below for explanation. Please always recheck any Dexcom "alert" with a finger/toe poke on our glucose meter. It is SHA policy & best practice to not use a CGM in hospital.

Curos Caps - male end Curos caps are stocked in the kanbans beside the female end caps. Hopefully the female Curos are back in stock soon!

RSV Antibody injection - Pharmacy will now be sending the RSV Immunization Record form with the dose to the unit. Please use this record form and email it to the RSV nurse (already programmed into each unit's fax machine) once completed.
The forms (Order Set, Injection Record, and Referral Form) are now available on FOD too!

Levetiracetam/Keppra IV - is now available in all Units on PIPD in Pyxis.

From Sharon and Kelly,

Support during the holiday season

The holiday season is a time of warmth, connection, and celebration, yet it can also bring moments of quiet reflection, sadness, and loneliness. For some, there is joy in sharing time and traditions with those we care about, and for others the season highlights the absence of loved ones. Being gentle with ourselves and those we connect with, and acknowledging both joy and loss, helps us navigate the season with kindness, compassion and care.
