Medication double checks - the most risk prone activity an individual nurse can do is neglect to do a complete checks including independent double checks and bedside checks (5+ Rights) with the MAR. Not only are errors related to skipping steps preventable, patients and families notice. We recently had an oncology patient identify that their bedside nurse did not do a double check of the patient's identity with another nurse. It's not a great look when that happens.
Are you having problems logging into Pyxis? Unable to Authenticate?
Your Pyxis account is directly connected to your regular network account (computer account).
1. Check your cell phone WiFi connection. If your phone has saved your username and password to autoconnect to the WiFi and you have not updated to your most recent password, your phone will keep trying to connect to the WiFi with your old password. This will lock your account for 15 mins. Either update your password, or forget network(s) (ie: Health, Physicians)
2. This also applies for your smart watch, which remembers the networks from your phone, even if you turn your phone off.

Room number changes: effective Dec 10, 2024 there will be some number changes happening with 99 beds and some other spaces. Using 99 beds the way we have isn't how those designations are supposed to be used - they are supposed to be use only by registration as temp place holders.
- because of the Blina practice change and the increase in numbers we will have 10 virtual beds for oncology called Ped Oncology Virtual Room (POVR) 01-10, and will be assigned to unit 3.
- for any other former "99" (i.e. waiting for MRI), these patients will now be put into a Ped Transition Virtual Room (PTVR) 01-05, assigned to unit 4.
- there will still be three 99 beds (P199-01 to 03), which will now only be attached to unit 1, but these will never be used outside of registration.
CNE Updates
Orientation - we have started Orientation for a lovely group of 8 nurses. You will see them in the coming weeks for their buddy shifts.
CPR Renewals - all rosters have been sent to Nursing Office to be submitted to Heart & Stroke. The Ed Days from October and November have been entered into Heart & Stroke. Your own Heart & Stroke should be updated now.
Learning Opportunity -
NEW Pump Drug Lines - on Dec 4th, arsenic trioxide and sodium thiosulfate will be added to all the Peds CCAs on the Plum360 Pump.
