Parking
Services is implementing a new prox card access reader to the Lot 15
& Stadium parkade park & ride shuttles. This means every
employee will have to scan their SHA prox card when boarding the shuttle.
Any
employee who is not authorized to use the park & ride service will
have their prox card signal the shuttle driver accordingly.
Car-Poolers – Park & ride users can register a
maximum of TWO (2) car-poolers at no cost. Contact the parking office to
register car-poolers.

Car-poolers must be SHA team members (including SCC employees, CoM,
etc)

Car-poolers need to have their prox card registered with parking
services by park & ride user

Car-poolers MUST SCAN their prox card IMMEDIATELY AFTER the registered
park & ride user when boarding shuttle.
Beginning
January 27th (2 weeks after implementation),
any employee who is not authorized to board the park & ride shuttle will
not be permitted to ride and will be asked to exit the shuttle. Parking
Services will be able to see all prox card attempts on the system and any employee
who scans their card and is not authorized to use the park & ride service
will be contacted individually.
If
your prox card signals invalid and you do pay for the park & ride service
then please contact the parking office to have corrected.

RN Staff Leveling -
How it works:
Target ahead of any given shift is as follows:
Level 3: Charge RN = require 3/ shift
Level 2: Chemo RN = require 7/ shift
Level 1: Basic RN – fill to baseline
A level 3 RN can apply to all shifts, a level 2 RN can apply to both level 2 and level 1, and a basic RN can only apply to a level 1 shift.
For the same or next shift the staff mix will be more determined by census and patient needs meaning minimum targets might not always be applicable.
Impacts on you
Given there are a minimum number of level 2 and 3 per shift it will impact how you trade and do name replacements as they will be denied if it doesn’t meet the minimum requirement. As a Level 2 or Level 3 RN you have to be cognizant of who you are trading or doing a named replacement with to ensure you are not going to short the unit of the skills required for safety. If staff scheduling denies by error please let us know. Exceptions can be made for staff if we don’t have chemo going or our acuity is low, managers can approve a trade or LOA.
The plan has only been in place for a couple of months and we are still trying these numbers as our starting point. We are flexible and open to feedback.
Pediatric Pharmacy clinical service hours update - effective Feb 3rd. Currently clinical services are provided on inpatient
pediatrics by P1 and P2 pharmacists with hours of 0730-1600 and 0900-1730
respectively. Starting Feb 3rd P2 hours will be shifting to earlier
in the day with both staff now operating at 0730-1600
New equipment
- we have put out a bunch of new diaper scales this week.
- there are 3 new parent sleep chairs (off-green) that are dedicated for the surge rooms 2331, 2337, playroom.
CNE Updates
Salbutamol (Ventolin) NEBS - are in very short supply with a backorder. Wherever possible, the patient should convert or have MDI dosing. This information was also sent to physicians. If questions or concerns occur for patient care, please call our Peds Pharmacy team members.
Blood transfer vacutainer (for transferring blood from a syringe to the blood tube) has been increased in each Clean Supply cart!
Please let us know of any other product that needs an increase in the amount stocked on our unit. It may take a bit for the system to complete but it will happen!
Flexi-Trak - (used for urinary catheter securement) has been discontinued. You will see a change to the new Foley Catheter securement device: STATLOCK ADULT FOLEY ANCHOR PAD sku#216398 as the new stock comes into place next week.
